ANDROPAUSE
Andropause is to males, what menopause is to women. Also known as male menopause, it is considered primarily a decline in testosterone. Because the hormone decline in men is slow and progressive, many symptoms go unnoticed for some time, even though it can start as early as the forties. Men who experience andropause usually complain of fatigue, loss of muscle mass, lack of libido, impotence, increased irritability, tiredness, mild to moderate depression, and brain function decline. |

A revolutionary study published by the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) uncovered that estrogen balance is also critical to aging men, and reported a dramatic increase in mortality in men with unbalanced estrogen. In another study of 3,014 men, aged between 69 and 80 years old, low testosterone was associated with an overwhelming 65% greater all-cause mortality. It was observed that men with deficiency in both estradiol and testosterone were almost twice as likely to die (a shocking 96% increase in mortality) compared to men in optimal ranges.
Studies show that supplementing testosterone levels in men is highly effective in increasing mental and physical performance, quality of sleep, lean body mass, and muscle strength, as well as decreasing total body fat, and risk of heart disease. These effects are usually noted within 3 to 6 weeks of beginning of treatment. A complete medical history and physical exam will be elicited at the time of your consultation. Specialized blood and saliva testing will be recommended to help determine the extent and severity of the hormonal deficiency.
